Last night, Nick Hunter, husband of Peper Law Firm manager/paralegal Brynn Hunter, and his team began their journey from New Orleans to Savannah on the Food Network’s The Great Food Truck Race. The Braised in the South (BITS) team was formed when Nick Hunter, Steven Klatt and Brandon Lapp met while working the line in the same restaurant years ago. With Steven and Brandon in the kitchen and Nick bringing in the customers, they’re ready to turn their experience in fine dining into approachable dishes like BBQ Shrimp Tacos, Cajun Chicken “Tatchos” and Andouille Mac and Cheese.
On the first episode, the contestants were tasked with creating beignets in New Orleans. After the beignet challenge, the teams received $300 to stock their trucks for 2 days on the streets of New Orleans with the goal of getting the most gross sales. #BITS got off to a bit of a struggle as they sought the perfect spot to sell, but in the end, finished the New Orleans challenge in 2nd place to stay alive in the competition! When they arrive this week in Pensacola, FL, will they pair up with another Food Truck to improve their chances? Will they get immunity and survive another challenge? Find out Sunday at 9pm on the Food Network and cheer on Team #BITS!
